Town Hall Panelist: Paul Quassa

Paul Quassa was born in an igloo, north of the community of Igloolik. He attended a residential school for nine years, both in Chesterfield Inlet, Nunavut and Churchill, Manitoba. In 1973 he graduated from Algonquin College in Ottawa.

Mr. Quassa was Chief Negotiator from 1989 to 1993 and was the first President of Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated from its inception on and off until 2001. From 2006 to 2009 he was mayor of Igloolik, and president of the Nunavut Association of Municipalities from 2008 to 2009. For the last three years, Mr. Quassa has been Vice-Chairperson of the Nunavut Planning Commission, Vice-Chair of NITC, and was appointed Board Member for the Nunavut Broadband Development Corporation by the Government of Nunavut.

Mr. Quassa lives in Igloolik with his wife and six children.
